AGORA Update October 2020

The promotion of research, knowledge-sharing and parliamentary innovation is one of the core goals of INTER PARES. To this end, the project has supported several knowledge platforms, including the AGORA Portal for Parliamentary Development.

AGORA has developed into a leading knowledge and learning hub for parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and development partners since its launch in 2010.  Following  a  comprehensive consultation process in 2019, work on the platform has commenced, and AGORA will relaunch by the end of 2020.

Going forward, AGORA will improve user experience through a more intuitive content organisation framework that offers access to a wider array of knowledge products. This includes more user-friendly options for research and filter publications; monitoring upcoming events and social media posts related to parliamentary development; hosting of a wider array of multimedia content such as podcasts and webinars; and a catalogue of past and current projects on parliamentary development.

A pivotal part of AGORA, to which the platform owes much of its success, is its E-learning Portal (learn.agora-parl.org). Later this year, INTER PARES will be adding to the existing set of AGORA courses with a brand new offering of its own. The INTER PARES courses are developed with the support of the E-learning Working Group and the inputs of EU Member States Parliaments. They are tailored to the needs of partner parliaments and will offer an immersive, interactive experience to learners.

INTER PARES is proud to share that each course is drafted by a leading expert in the field: Associate Professor Olivier Rozenberg on oversight; Professor Helen Xanthaki on legislative drafting; Professor Nicola Lupo on comparative law-making; Professor Cristina Leston-Bandeira on representation, and former MP (New Zealand) Dr. Kennedy Graham on environmental protection and oversight.  Further information on the launch of each course will be shared shortly.
