Finalisation of a guide on evaluation of public policy for the National Assembly and Senate of Côte d’Ivoire

The INTER PARES Drafting Committee composed of parliamentarians and staff from the National Assembly and Senate of Côte d’Ivoire and France, the Swedish Riksdag, the French Cour des Comptes and the INTER PARES Expert met at the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire in Abidjan from 27 to 28 June 2022 to finalise a practical guide on evaluation of public policies.

Over the past three months, the Drafting Committee has been meeting online and exchanging written comments on two co-developed drafts for the guide. The in-person meeting in Abidjan allowed members to further exchange on the different sections of the guide as well as engage a plurality of experts and viewpoints in the review process. These included the Planning Ministry who gave a thorough overview of the national policy and guide on evaluation, as well as broader consultations with the Evaluation of Public Policies and Finance Committees.

Deputies, Senators and parliamentary staff were able to exchange practices with their French counterparts on site and the Drafting Committee agreed on the final amendments to be made on the guide.

The guide, which will be tailored to the Ivorian context and will aim to support parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from both the National Assembly and Senate in conducting evaluation of public policies, will be available in upcoming weeks.
