INTER PARES enters into a partnership with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

On 4-5 May 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) welcomed the INTER PARES scoping mission in Kyiv, Ukraine. Discussions between the two delegations laid the foundation of the partnership roadmap (‘project fiche’) to be developed following the scoping mission. The partnership will aim to strengthen the capacities of the VRU in the areas of its development priorities.

During the scoping mission the VRU administration, Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, government representatives, and the INTER PARES team discussed key priorities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the needs of the Parliament in strengthening its effective functioning and identified potential spheres of support through the peer-to-peer partnership.

The programme included meetings with:

  • Secretary-General of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Viacheslav Shtuchnyi,
  • Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Oleh Nemchinov,
  • Advisor of Speaker of the VRU on European Integration issues Mykhailo Latynsky,
