Workshop on Gender Strategies for Parliamentary Development Programmes

Past Event - 15 October 2019

One of the thematic focus areas of the INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership  EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments is Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment. The project aims to contribute to SDG 5.5 “Ensuring women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life”.

In order to develop this strategic focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment, INTER PARES convened a workshop on 15 October 2019 to brainstorm with parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and development practitioners on how peer-to-peer exchange programmes can contribute effectively to gender equality. The experiences shared showed that no Parliament has perfected gender mainstreaming, which gives all partners involved an opportunity for dialogue and mutual learning in developing and testing innovative approaches through the INTER PARES partnerships.

Registration to this event was by invitation only
