International Democracy Week 2020

Past Event - 14 - 17 September 2020

On the occasion of the International Day of Democracy on 15 September, the event is co-organised together with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), European Endowment for Democracy (EED), European Partnership for Democracy (EPD), European Network of Political Foundations (ENoP) and Carnegie Europe, and hosted the European Parliament is focusing on the repercussions of the crisis on democracy and fundamental freedoms.

The final session, co-organised by INTER PARES, "Parliaments’ responses to the pandemic: are virtual parliaments here to stay?" is taking place on Thursday, 17 September, from 14:30 to 16:30 CEST. As part of the International Democracy Week webinar series, the webinar casts a lens on whether and how the innovation process parliaments experience can be shaped to transform into structural change that reinforces democratic governance in a tangible way.
